Teacher Meetings - London (Greenwich) - Thursday 30th June

9.30 am Registration
10.00 am Nrich - The highly popular session from the Nrich Project based at Cambridge University will demonstrate how to get the most out of mathematical materials to challenge and engage students. You will explore some of the material on their free website, www.nrich.maths.org , hear how teachers are using it and take away new ideas for your own classroom.
11.30 am Coffee
11.50 am UKMT - This session will use materials from our competitions, demonstrate the thinking behind the questions and consider how they and the ideas behind them can be used to stimulate classroom interest. The individual challenges are taken by over 600,000 UK students every year and over 1000 schools enter the Team Challenge and over 800 schools and colleges enter the Senior Team Challenge.
1.15 pm Lunch
2.00 pm Liz Meenan has been a maths advisory teacher, head of department, class teacher and formerly was an education officer for 4Learning - Channel 4's education arm. She has helped produce multimedia resources for both primary and secondary maths and provides INSET courses. She is now a freelance education consultant and a part-time maths PGCE tutor at Leeds University with a special interest in shape and space and multicultural maths. She loves anything mathematical and is a bit of a mathemagician where paper is concerned.
3.30 pm Close and option session on tackling UKMT Olympiad papers
4.30 pm Optional session ends
